KAFSC History & Mission

The Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC) is a leading, nonprofit organization that supports and empowers adults, youth and children to lead safe and healthy lives based on dignity, compassion and mutual respect. We are committed to preventing and ending domestic violence and sexual assault, and creating a violence-free society. The Center was born 30 years ago when a group of concerned community members organized to help women and children suffering from domestic violence and abuse.

Our Center started out humbly in church basements staffed by volunteers and consultants dedicated to ending violence within Korean American families, and has grown over 30 years to the premier nonprofit organization it is today. With your unwavering support, we will continue to serve those in need and empower our community to break the cycle of violence.

Our counseling, education and advocacy programs for individuals and families in the New York Tri-State area are provided in a culturally and linguistically appropriate setting. All of our services are confidential, bilingual and free to the community.*

*excludes some Hodori after-school programs and court-mandated services
