Joyous String Ensemble
In the last few years, Joyous String Ensemble led by 13 years old cellist Justin Yu and 10 years old violinist Christine Yu have made major appearances in 40 television shows including Ellen DeGerenes Show (NBC), Steve Harvey's Little Big Shots (NBC), Tiffany Haddish' Kids Say (ABC), Good Morning America (ABC), The Today Show (NBC), Sesame Street (HBO Max), Harry Connick Show (Fox) and World's Got Talent (Fremantle). Internationally, this group has performed in TV Shows such as Super Kids(Germany), Little Big Star (Netherland), Star King (South Korea), Amazing Kids (China) etc.
In addition, Joyous String Ensemble was invited by President Obama to perform in National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in White House (2015). Lead cellist Justin Yu has also been invited by president Bush to perform in his charity Points of Light in Washington D.C in 2014.
Besides TV appearances, the group has performed at major concert venues, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Citi Field, Madison Square Garden, Barclays Center. And they already have garnered a robust social media following, with millions of youtube views and followers.
All 12 members from Joyous String Ensemble are students of Joyous Music School in Long Island. Most members started playing their instruments at age 3 and this group came together when most players were at age 6. Mixing an eclectic repertoire, the Joyous String Ensemble performs from traditional classical music to today’s pop hits and mash-ups – innovatively orchestrated and arranged to give the audience a unique listening experience. Despite their youthful age, the group is a model of mature and brilliant musicianship.
Currently, Joyous String Ensemble performs 30 - 40 concerts a year.
